BIOMASS. THE ENERGY OF NATURE.

Biomass is any substance derived directly or indirectly from the process of photosynthesis. Via this process plants absorb carbon dioxide and water. Solar energy and nutrients from the soil allow these substances to be transformed into organic material which feeds the plants. Biomass is a miscellaneous combination of material. We can say that anything made of organic matter, excluding plastics from petrol and fossil material, is biomass. The most common forms of biomass are forest residues, waste from firms that work with wood, waste from agricultural firms, commercial firms, algae and aquatic cultures and municipal solid waste. Biomass is converted into energy via biochemical or thermochemical processes.
